There are no dramatic changes in morphology with the moult to the
postlarval stage.
- the pleopods become large, setose
and functional, taking over as the appendages for locomotion. The
larva again swims forwards with rhythmic beating of the pleopods.
- the chelae on the first three pereopods are now functional, with
small teeth and short bristles terminally
